There are a lot of reasons why you should buy a latex foam mattress.  People buy them because they are a “green” product, because they are made from sustainable materials and don’t emit chemicals for long periods of time.  People also buy latex foam mattresses because it is hypo allergenic and doesn’t fall prey to micro organisms.  Then again, in the end people buy the latex foam mattress because it just feels better for them than other types of mattresses.

Here are some pointers on…

How to a Buy Latex Foam Mattress

1.  Get the 100% latex version instead of the synthetic blends.

The natural version behaves better and obviously more authentic than its cloned counterparts.  The mattress is more lively, has a better bounce, and is more responsive.  Additionally it has a more comfortable feel to it.  Because it is the natural version it withstands body impressions and generally keeps its form better than its synthetic brothers.

2.  Look for a mattress with a simple design.

The more complex the design of the latex foam mattress or even the latex foam mattress topper means the different layers are more prone to shifting around and losing their functionality.  Stay away from the ones that offer too many “layers of comfort” or “comfort zones.”

3.  If you must mix – go Dunlop then Talaly.

The Dunlop layer offers a more firm base and core to the mattress providing support and durability whole the Talaly layer is what gives it a more comfortable luxurious feeling.  So if you are really tempted by the ‘combination’ layers – that’s what I would go with.

4.  The Natural Latex foam mattress needs to breathe.

Look for a wool blended outer covering that does not have any kind of chemical fire retardants.  Also, you are paying for a premium latex foam mattress so make sure the cover is not so think you can’t feel the beauty of the mattress.

5.  Look for a Warranty

Most reputable companies out there whether they produce a latex foam mattress topper or whole mattress itself will offer a substantial warranty, at least 10 years.  This will either be offered by the dealer or the manufacture themselves, or in some cases both.

6.  The trial period

If you are not offered a money back, no questions asked guarantee within 60 to 90 days of purchase you are not in good hands.  The more confident the company is in their product the longer they should be willing to let you have a trial run at it.
