My guess is that you, at some point, have either seen or used rise and recline chairs. I know the first time I saw one was in my grandfathers living room and as kids we thought it was a fun toy to play with. Of course now that I am a little older myself I can really see the benefit of the rise and recline chair. No doubt it is primarily used for older individuals or those who have had knee or hip replacements – but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a great addition to your home.
The rise and recliner chair is designed to elevate and recline automatically with the use of an electric motor. Typically a remote control is involved at some level be it wireless or built into the chair. When used the chair will raise up off the ground and approach the user at an angle to allow them to only bend their knees 20 degrees rather than the full 45 it would take to sit in a regular chair. Once rise and recliner chairs are positioned accordingly, the user can then recline the chair to a fully seated position. When the user is ready to get out of the chair, they can activate the chair to raise up and the chair will assist them in getting their knees to a more comfortable angle while carrying the majority of their weight. The same is true of adjustable beds.
As you can imagine this kind of functionality can be extremely useful when it comes to in home health care. Riser recliner chairs have the ability to give back some of the freedom and remove the pain that comes with old age.
The chairs are available in any number of colors and fabric types. Unfortunately there are not very many options when it comes to style. This is primarily because there is a need to house and operate a motor and not all chair models can accommodate the size of the machinery.
When it comes to price the chairs run between $500 and $1,000 dollars depending on the size and style of the motor. Because the chairs experience limited use, they are often best found in the used market. You can usually find gently used chairs in abundance in the paper or online. This really limits the style and color choice you will have for the rise and recline chairs, but in the end it is a cheaper way to get the same functionality.
